Six Months at Wealthy Affiliate – Received Dedication badge

Hello fellow retirees and other friends.

I promised that I would take you along with me on my journey at Wealthy Affiliate. This post is to inform you that I have now been with Wealthy Affiliate for six months.  They give badges for achievements. I got a badge for being a member for six months. It is called a dedication badge.

It has been a wonderful six months.  I have learned a lot; but the more I learn, the more I see I need to learn.  There is so much quality training on this site.  Sometimes, if I try to go too fast or forget to take enough breaks, my mind can suffer from information overload; or as I lovingly call it, IO.

It is entirely possible to indulge in too much of a good thing.  As my mind is not as young and quick as it once was, IO can sometimes creep up on me unexpectedly.  Especially if I forget to take needed breaks; or get the required amount of sleep.

Despite the occasional bout of IO, I have acquired much knowledge about internet affiliate marketing. I find repetition to be the best learning method for me. I have accomplished more than I ever thought I could by following the steps in the training.

I will attempt to give you a list of my accomplishments; but I’m sure I will forget some.  This list is not for the purpose of bragging; but to let you know that anyone can achieve what I have done.  In fact, many of you may be able to achieve more than what I have in less time.

That is one of the good things about Wealthy Affiliate.  You can learn at your own pace.  The information is there for you to absorb at your own rate.  If needed, you can go back and go over anything you may have not taken in the first time around.  As I said earlier, repetition is my best learning method.  I think that my brain sometimes acts more like a sieve than a solid vessel for containing knowledge.  So if I can learn and achieve, so can every one of my readers.

If I can accomplish all this then you

may be able to accomplish much more.

The Wealthy Affiliate community is wonderful and I have made many good friends there.  But the blogs written by Wealthy Affiliate members are phenomenal!  They constantly build me up with quotes, positive comments, and sometimes posts that make me laugh.  I am constantly amazed at the diverse talents Wealthy Affiliate members possess.

And these very talented people write excellent tutorials about affiliate marketing, social media sharing, and much more.  The Wealthy Affiliate community is always willing to share their knowledge for the good of the community.

With over 600,000 members, from all over the world; it is an extremely diverse community. It’s amazing to think that I talk to people from all over the world every day.

If you want to be a part of this community, learning, growing and sharing your own knowledge.  You can get started today!  Today is the first day of the rest of your life!

When I stumbled across Wealthy Affiliate, I had recently lost my parents whom I had provided care for almost nine years.  Since caring for them was my main focus; I not only lost the presence of my parents; but I also lost my purpose.  I was at loose ends.  I needed something to fill my days so I didn’t sink into depression.

I wasn’t sure what affiliate marketing was, or if it would work.  I didn’t know if it was something I would even be interested in.  I researched and assured myself that it wasn’t a scam.  And it was free, so I figured I didn’t have anything to lose; and I wanted to explore what I had to gain by learning about internet affiliate marketing.  Maybe pursuing a new venture would provide a new purpose for me.  It was worth a try.

So I joined for free, and started my free lessons.  I was amazed that by the second lesson I had built a website by following the instructions in the lessons.  I had never done anything like this before.  I felt a great sense of accomplishment.  Before the 7 days of free lessons was up, I knew I wanted more time.

A premium membership for the first month was discounted to only $19; so I joined. Where could I get this kind of training for less than $20?  I thought it was good that I would have another month to decide if this was really for me.  I have been learning and growing in this community ever since.

I am using my creativity. I am using my brain. I am working on my lessons and writing posts on my website and on the Wealthy Affiliate community site. Exercising your brain as you get older can sometimes keep dementia and Alzheimer’s at bay.  No dementia for me!  I learn something new every day at Wealthy Affiliate!

The Wealthy Affiliate community has given me a purpose, and helps me set goals to accomplish what I desire to do with my website and affiliate marketing business.  Instead of sitting in front of a TV set and eating; I am learning and using my time creatively working toward the goals I have set for myself.

I don’t want to just live day to day.

I want to live my life and live it to its fullest.

If you would like to take your own learning journey at Wealthy Affiliate, and create your own website you can join for free.  Are you ready to start learning?

If you aren’t ready to make that step, you may continue to follow me on my journey.  I will be writing more posts to bring you updates from time to time.

Thank you for stopping by.  I love company; And my door is always open.

Please feel free to use the comment section if you have anything to add or any questions.  I love receiving comments.  Your thoughts and opinions are important to me; and will answer all of them just as soon as I  can.

  1. Hi Jeannie,

Congratulations for achieving so much within a short span of 6 months. Your hard work and perseverance have paid off. Would you mind sharing what are the list of affiliates you have joined? Keep learning and progress further! Wealthy Affiliate is definitely a great place to learn and succeed!

    • Hi Kevin.

Thank you for your kind comment. I feel like I have moved much like a turtle toward what some people were able to accomplish; but I guess that part of the beauty of WA is being able to move at your own pace; be it turtle or hare. 🙂

Off the top of my head the list of affiliates would be: Amazon, Ebay, Consumer Junction and I applied for Google Adsense but didn’t hear back.

Thanks for commenting; and I agree with you that WA is a great place to learn and succeed.

  2. Hi Jeannie,

Love your article, getting a six-month badge is quite an achievement. I look forward to getting mine from Wealthy Affiliate.

I have been learning at my own very slow pace, but let me tell you what I have learned in the last few months is pretty amazing. Nothing like I have ever learned before.

    • Hi Jagi.

Thanks for your kind comment. Yes. It pretty much just means I have stuck it out for six months; but it is still and achievement.

Yes, I feel that I learned at a slow pace compared to some of the others; but it doesn’t matter. We are still learning and growing, no matter what the pace. And remember, in the story of the turtle and the hare; the hare got tired and rested and the turtle passed him by. So who is to say who will succeed and who won’t in this very competitive internet affiliate marketing business? I am thinking it is the overcomers. The ones that don’t quit, work hard, and keep learning.

Thanks for reading and being so kind as to leave a comment.
